Printing Posters

The first of a poster series that dives into the more technical details of the art and design making process. The series is currently ongoing and high resolution posters are shared for free online when completed. Each poster answers specific technical questions about printing that I had when I first started designing work for print or that the professional print technician collaborating with me has recommended as a niche but noted topic of confusion among customers. The overall goal of the project is to have a free publicly available set of posters that printers, teachers, and laymen can use, print, and look back on as a reference. While creating the poster I went through a few different variations before landing on a fish theme.

SCP Foundation Cover

A cover based on a popular online collaborative writing wiki project by the name of SCP Foundation. The goal of this project was to create an interesting and visually coherent cover that stayed true to the SCP Foundation’s in universe aesthetic. After a few preliminary ideas based on the corporate men in black shadow government that serves as the wiki’s thoroughfare plot I eventually went with the one that contributed a bit of backstory to the ‘files’ that the wiki has access to; To read the “secret” files on the wiki you would need to gain access through some shadowy underhanded techniques such as second hand photocopies, hence the texture and relative ‘crunchiness’ of the cover. I made two versions of the cover, one that could be used as an actual book that holds ‘photocopies’ of SCP files, and the other a blank journal that one could use and decorate to their hearts content. Lions Breath Perfume

An exercise in product packaging. I've been learning the 3D program Blender lately and wanted to create some packing mock ups. The packaging itself was made in illustrator. I went through a few different variations before ultimately landing on a warm pallet and a dandelion flower/puff theme. I wanted the overall feeling of the package to be cute and cozy unlike the sophistication and appeal to more adult themes that a lot of other perfume/scent brands use. The packaging was made to appeal to a more younger/ youthful demographic (pre-teens, teen, parents who are looking for a brand for their teen/pre-teen, ect.)

Advertisements for a multitude of trade magazines and newsletters. Made with previous designs as inspiration and on spec with brand design guidelines and marketing needs.

Trade Fliers

Trade ad fliers made with the head of the marketing department. Specs were provided and the goal of the project was to create something modern and new while keeping with the Nelson’s brand guidelines. I wanted to created something similar to a previously established "new" look and worked with the marketing director to create a look that fulfilled their needs.

Social Media Page Tiles

Social media tiles created for the Nelson’s USA branch’s move from one social media account to another. The designs had to stay on brand with each separate product line’s account, match the tile sets on the other accounts, and have elements that seamlessly moved across three separate tiles for the carousel posts while still making sense within the context of the individual tiles.

Business card designs created for the new sales team at Nelsons. An updated look was requested and multiple variations were created using the brand guidelines provided by the AD. The goal in mind while creating these was something fresh, organic, and playful.

Coupons

Coupon created for Nelson’s USA branch sales team’s internal usage & a mental health awareness month coupon. A previous coupon was used as the baseline and alterations and changers were made by request using assets provided. The project was eventually dropped without going out and the pink areas are/were unconfirmed assets and information that was subject to change.
